For the purposes of development of the basic design (design premise) the technology for storage and heating of bitumen at the winter bitumen storage terminal of OOO LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo was made up. Process flow diagrams (PFDs), the pipeline and instrumentation diagram and the process automation diagram, cause-effect diagrams were drawn. The main parameters of the processing equipment, of the storage and heat treatment tanks, of the heat-releasing and auxiliary equipment were specified. Checklists were made up. The general manual was prepared, the hazard and operability study was carried out, estimation of the plant’s requirements for basic material and human resources was done. The key issue of assurance of bitumen quality in the process flow, reduction of energy consumption and capital costs was the use of the KUPOL internal bitumen heating devices (patented solution of EBT).
